Hannah Spearritt swaps fame for fruit forests, revealing her new off-grid life with family in Costa Rica

From glittering stages to the heart of the jungle, S Club star Hannah Spearritt has radically reinvented her life. Once part of one of Britain’s most successful pop acts, the 44-year-old now calls the lush rainforests of Costa Rica home.

The former chart-topper — known for hits like Don’t Stop Movin’ and Reach — has embraced what she describes as a “survivalist, uninhibited jungle life,” after moving to Central America with her partner Adam Thomas and their daughters, Tea, five, and Tora, three.

In January, the family relocated permanently, trading in the UK for what Spearritt calls “paradise.” Her Instagram posts now show a strikingly different world from her pop star past: sweeping rainforest views, river swims, waterfalls, and permaculture plans.

“Looking out to new beginnings… at our new home!” she wrote in a recent post, adding, “Next on the menu is to learn permaculture… and have a laugh at ourselves filming the planting of the fruit forest!” She ended the caption with a message of gratitude: “Sending so much love from Costa Rica.”

Spearritt’s transformation has been years in the making. She first visited Costa Rica in 2018 and opened a themed café in Twickenham with her partner upon returning to the UK. But the dream of a permanent escape lingered — and became a reality this year.

“Well… we finally made it to paradise,” she shared upon arrival. “Beautiful country, beautiful people.”

Now labelling herself online as a “prepper, survivalist and creator,” the former singer seems energised by the move. Her social media is filled with family adventures — from tyre swings and jungle hikes to sun-drenched swims in secluded rivers. In February, she wrote about the country being “a magical place” that helped her heal after “a challenging year.”

That year included profound grief. In April 2023, her former bandmate and ex-boyfriend Paul Cattermole died of heart failure aged 46. The loss hit her hard. The pair had shared a close bond since childhood, dated for five years, and briefly reunited romantically in 2015.

Following Paul’s death, the remaining S Club members carried on with reunion plans. But Hannah quietly withdrew, later choosing to focus on her family and well-being instead. The move to Costa Rica marks a clear shift in priorities — from pop tours to a peaceful existence among nature.

In a previous interview with The Sun, she hinted at her plans: “That’s the dream, to move to Costa Rica and buy some land or a farm and live the simple life with the girls.”

Her journey has also included personal health challenges. After undergoing breast augmentation in 2013, Spearritt suffered debilitating symptoms, which she later attributed to her implants. She had them removed and has spoken publicly about the ordeal, describing it as a “living nightmare.”

Now, in her mid-40s, Spearritt appears to have found a new chapter filled with purpose and passion — not in the limelight, but in the quiet rhythm of the jungle.

She continues to tease future projects and updates online, signing off her posts with messages of positivity, connection, and love.

For fans who once watched her dominate the pop charts, it’s a surprising evolution. But for Spearritt, it seems this off-grid life offers exactly what she’s been searching for: peace, simplicity, and a new beginning under the Costa Rican sun.
