Brooklyn Beckham slammed for ‘pathetic’ Instagram post amid Beckham family rift

Brooklyn Beckham’s Instagram tribute to wife Nicola Peltz has drawn backlash amid rumours of a fallout with the Beckham family.

Brooklyn Beckham is under fire after posting a public declaration of love for his wife, Nicola Peltz, in a move many have interpreted as a pointed snub to his famous family.

The 26-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham shared a video on Instagram on Sunday showing himself riding through Los Angeles on a motorbike, with Nicola perched behind him. The caption read: “My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you’re the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby.”

While the post may have appeared romantic to some, others saw it as a direct swipe at his parents and siblings, given the ongoing speculation of a Beckham family rift. Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent from David’s 50th birthday bash in London earlier this month, which saw appearances from Brooklyn’s siblings—Romeo, Cruz, and Harper—as well as other close family friends.

Further fuelling the rumours, the couple also skipped a black-tie birthday celebration for David in Miami back in March, and missed Victoria Beckham’s Paris Fashion Week show in April. Their repeated absences have sparked headlines and online debates, particularly as reports suggest a falling out between Brooklyn and his younger brother Romeo.

At the heart of the alleged tension is Romeo’s girlfriend Kim, who reportedly had a brief past with Brooklyn, leading to friction between the two brothers. Romeo, who previously dated model Mia Regan, has not publicly commented on the matter, but tabloids continue to speculate.

Followers of Brooklyn were quick to criticise his Sunday post, branding it tone-deaf and attention-seeking. One commenter wrote: “If that was my son saying that, knowing what the post is about, I would be devastated. Blood is thicker than water.”

Another said, “You might be feeling confident now. But just remember that while you’re on the way up, who’s going to be there if you ever fall? Make sure the damage isn’t irreparable when you need your family again.”

The backlash didn’t stop there. “This is a bit pathetic,” another critic commented. “Shame on you for deliberately causing maximum pain and humiliation to your parents who have given you everything.”

Some followers attempted to take a more neutral tone. “Yeah, the public doesn’t know all the facts and yeah, there’s always two sides to a story,” one noted, “but don’t give the press ammunition to cause more damage.”

A few commenters defended the couple, praising Brooklyn’s devotion to Nicola. Still, many echoed the sentiment that private matters should remain off social media. “I really think you and Nicole are a great couple,” a fan wrote, “but very disappointed in this post. For the sake of your parents, you should never put personal messages for the world to see.”

The Beckhams, a fixture in both British pop culture and global celebrity circles, have maintained a traditionally united front in the public eye. However, Brooklyn’s increasingly separate appearances and public declarations of independence—often centring around his wife—have not gone unnoticed.

Neither Brooklyn, Nicola, nor any members of the Beckham family have publicly addressed the growing speculation. As the rumoured tensions mount, the online response to Brooklyn’s post suggests that fans, too, are hoping for reconciliation before lines are crossed beyond repair.

The Independent has contacted representatives for Brooklyn, David, and Victoria Beckham for comment.
