Kate Cassidy takes fans through her ‘mental reset day’ after finding out Liam Payne left no will, leaving her future uncertain

Kate Cassidy has revealed the emotional toll of discovering she may receive nothing from late boyfriend Liam Payne’s £24 million fortune.

The 26-year-old influencer opened up to fans on TikTok, sharing a deeply personal video filmed from bed. “It’s one of those mornings where it’s hard for me to get out of bed and start my day,” she admitted, dressed in a yellow hoodie with no makeup. “So I’ve decided I’m going to take a mental reset day and bring you guys along.”

Her confession follows news that Payne, who died unexpectedly in October, did not leave a will, meaning Cassidy is unlikely to inherit any of his estate under UK intestacy laws. Instead, legal responsibility for administering his assets falls to his ex-partner Cheryl and music lawyer Richard Bray.

Cassidy’s followers watched as she documented her reset day: applying makeup, slipping into lilac joggers, walking her dog, meeting a friend for a salmon salad lunch, attending a therapy session, and engaging in self-care rituals.

Kate had lived with Payne in Florida for two years prior to his sudden death, and the couple were said to be close. But despite their shared life, legal rules in the UK give priority to spouses and children. Liam and Cheryl, who were together from 2016 to 2018, share a son, Bear, now seven.

As Payne died intestate—without a will—Cheryl, 41, is expected to oversee the estate and possibly place the funds in a trust for their son. The total fortune includes property, royalties, and other assets estimated at £24 million.

Cheryl paid tribute to Liam following his death, calling the loss “earth-shattering” and “indescribably painful.” Now tasked with managing his estate, she has yet to comment publicly on the inheritance matter or Kate Cassidy’s exclusion.

Meanwhile, Kate has chosen to face her pain publicly. While her followers offered words of support, many also expressed concern over her emotional state. “I’m trying my best,” she said in her video, hinting at the deep stress she’s endured since losing Liam and now confronting her precarious financial future.

The couple’s relationship began in 2021 and saw them sharing homes in the US, including a Florida mansion. Despite occasional rumours of splits, they were reportedly still together at the time of his death.

Though Kate is not entitled to any share of the estate under UK law, it remains unclear whether Cheryl or the estate administrators will make any provisions for her. In the meantime, Cassidy appears to be turning to her followers for comfort and support as she processes her grief and the harsh reality of Liam’s legacy.
