Beats launches USB-C and Lightning charging cables in vivid colours and sizes, with orders now live on Apple’s website

Beats, the audio brand synonymous with bold design and vibrant colours, is officially branching out beyond headphones and speakers. For the first time in its history, Beats is releasing a collection of charging cables—offering USB-C to USB-C, USB-A to USB-C, and USB-C to Lightning options—all designed with durability and style in mind.

Announced Tuesday morning, the cables are now available to order in the United States via Apple’s website, with in-store availability kicking off Thursday, 17 April. Each cable type comes in two lengths: a 1.5-metre (5-foot) version and a compact 20-centimetre (8-inch) option. Both lengths retail at $18.99 individually, while select 1.5-metre cables are also available in 2-pack bundles for $34.99.

As expected from Beats, aesthetics are front and centre. The 1-pack, 1.5-metre cables are available in three core colourways—Bolt Black, Surge Stone, and Rapid Red. However, fans hoping to snag the USB-A to USB-C or USB-C to Lightning cables in Rapid Red will need to wait until summer. There’s also an exclusive Nitro Navy finish available for the USB-C to USB-C version.

For those looking to bundle up, the 2-pack offerings for USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C cables, as well as all the 20-centimetre cables, are available exclusively in the brand’s signature Bolt Black finish.

Design-wise, these new Beats cables feature a woven exterior to reduce tangling and boost long-term durability. Functionally, the USB-C to USB-C cables support charging speeds up to 60w, making them suitable for laptops and high-powered devices. USB-A to USB-C cables deliver up to 15w, while both types are limited to USB 2.0 data transfer rates.

The USB-C to Lightning cables—designed for older iPhones and iPads—support fast charging, though Beats has not confirmed specific wattage figures.

To mark the launch, Beats has revived its popular “Pill People” mascots in a short ad spot, with voiceovers by comedians Ben Marshall, Desi Banks, and Megan Stalter. The playful commercial ties the brand’s quirky personality to its push into a broader accessories lineup.

The move follows Beats’ recent entry into phone protection with iPhone 16 cases, launched in two waves across September and December. The addition of charging cables signals the brand’s ambition to evolve beyond audio into a full lifestyle tech brand, competing more directly with other Apple accessory offerings.

With prices set competitively and colour-matched design that blends fashion and function, Beats’ first cable collection may prove to be more than just a side act—it could be the next hit in its growing ecosystem.
