Bruno Fernandes told to ‘join now’ as Al-Hilal dangle £100m Man United escape route

Al-Hilal tempt Bruno Fernandes with £100m bid as Ruben Neves backs star to quit Man United.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is at the heart of a growing transfer storm after Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal reportedly tabled a staggering £100 million offer for the Portuguese midfielder. Now, his own international teammate Ruben Neves is urging him to make the move.

After United’s worst-ever Premier League season, INEOS are preparing a seismic summer shake-up. Big names like Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony are already heading for the exit, while Bruno Fernandes may be the highest-profile casualty of the impending clear-out.

Sources close to the club claim Al-Hilal are prepared to meet United’s £100m valuation for Fernandes, 30, whose agent is believed to have already agreed personal terms. Although the midfielder has not made a final decision, pressure is mounting — from both United’s finances and within his own circle.

Neves, who made a £47 million switch from Wolves to Al-Hilal in 2023, publicly threw his support behind the idea of Fernandes joining him in Riyadh.

“Bruno Fernandes at Al Hilal? I would recommend any player in the national team,” Neves told DesportoAoMinuto. “We have produced a lot of talent. We are lucky in that respect. A small country, but with excellent players — just yesterday, four of them won the Champions League.”

Neves, already a key figure in Al-Hilal’s star-studded squad, added: “That makes any child dream. I would like to have any player from the national team in my team.”

Ruben Amorim, United’s recently appointed manager, remains desperate to keep Fernandes at Old Trafford, viewing the playmaker as central to his rebuild. But with multiple squad departures planned and Financial Fair Play considerations in play, United’s hierarchy may struggle to resist a bid of this magnitude.

The move would be a bitter blow to fans still reeling from a catastrophic season that saw United slump to their lowest-ever Premier League finish. Fernandes, while inconsistent, has often been the lone creative spark during turbulent campaigns and remains one of the most technically gifted players in the squad.

His potential exit has triggered fierce debate among supporters. Many fear it would signal United’s regression into a selling club — while others argue that cashing in on a 30-year-old to reinvest in younger talent makes financial sense.

With his contract running until 2026, United retain control over Fernandes’ future for now. But the player’s decision may ultimately hinge on personal ambitions — and whether he sees himself as part of the long-term vision under Amorim, or tempted by the growing prestige (and riches) of Saudi football.

Al-Hilal, bankrolled by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, already boast the likes of Neves, Aleksandar Mitrović, Kalidou Koulibaly and Sergej Milinković-Savić — and are determined to continue stockpiling elite European talent.

If Fernandes accepts the offer, he would become one of the highest-paid midfielders in world football and the most expensive sale in United’s post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

As of now, Bruno remains silent. But with his international teammate calling and United’s future in flux, a defining career decision is fast approaching.
