Five weird and wonderful new Steam games you probably missed this week

From retro shooters to yoyo-fuelled adventures, here are five under-the-radar games that quietly dropped this week.

Every day, a dozen or more new games quietly drop on Steam, and most fly under the radar. But buried among the obscure oddities and meme-fuelled misfires, a few genuinely interesting—or at least thoroughly bizarre—titles deserve a closer look. Here are five Steam releases from the past week (ending June 2, 2025) that you might have missed but might just want to try.

1. Guilty as Sock!
Developer: Demon Max | Release: May 29
The courtroom has never looked this fuzzy. Guilty as Sock! is a PvP legal battle royale in which all participants are socks. Players can act as lawyers, defendants, journalists, witnesses, or even jurors in cases that range from absurd to outright chaotic. A real human prosecutor oversees proceedings, often to little avail as mayhem unfolds. Equal parts comedy, anarchy, and party-game madness, it’s a title that sounds hilarious—but possibly unplayable with strangers. Still, it’s gaining traction among fans of online chaos.

2. Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo
Developer: Pocket Trap | Release: May 28
Described by its creators as a “yoyovania,” this top-down action game recalls classic Zelda with a heavy dose of modern traversal mechanics. You play Pippit Pipistrello, a hero wielding a trusty yoyo across a pixel-art cityscape ruled by four crime bosses. Equal parts exploration and combat, Pipistrello delivers satisfying parkour, dynamic enemy encounters, and charming 16-bit flair. It’s got whimsy, style, and enough originality to stand out in a sea of pixel-art homages.

3. Project Warlock 2
Developer: Buckshot Software | Release: May 29
The original Project Warlock was a love letter to early FPS games like Wolfenstein 3D. Its sequel, however, leaps into the Build Engine era, evoking memories of Duke Nukem 3D and Quake while still staying true to its sprite-based heritage. Expect frantic gunplay, sprawling labyrinthine levels, and gloriously retro visual design. With three distinct characters to choose from, each with their own abilities, this boomer shooter takes verticality and old-school level design seriously—and fans of 90s shooters should feel right at home.

4. Decade
Developer: Last Piscean | Release: May 27
Decade is one of the most curious point-and-click titles of the year so far. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the game lets you send children back in time to research what went wrong—through an eerie, retro-futuristic operating system. With 20 FMV endings and a haunting interface, it offers a slow-burn mystery laced with existential undertones. It’s unconventional, bleak, and brimming with atmosphere, offering a thoughtful experience for those willing to dig into its layered narrative.

5. Sahur: Escape Together
Developer: Goosix Games | Release: May 29
At first glance, Sahur: Escape Together might look like another hastily assembled indie horror game. And it kind of is—but it’s also part of a rising meme-fuelled genre known as “Italian Brainrot.” This four-player co-op survival game pits players against surreal threats in a style that feels like a fever dream dipped in low-poly terror. It’s not polished, but it’s oddly entertaining and already has 36 “positive” reviews on Steam—a surprising feat for such an esoteric title.
