Islamabad United remain unbeaten in the Pakistan Super League, chasing down Karachi Kings’ total with ease.

Islamabad United continued their impressive start to the Pakistan Super League season with a commanding six-wicket win over Karachi Kings. Chasing a modest target of 129, Islamabad reached their goal comfortably, maintaining their unbeaten record and putting them firmly in contention for the top spot.

Karachi Kings, put into bat by Islamabad, struggled to build a solid innings from the outset. Openers David Warner and James Vince were dismissed early, both bowled out for just three and four runs respectively. This set the tone for a difficult day at the crease for Karachi, as they found themselves in trouble early on.

Despite a resilient knock from opener Tim Seifert, who top-scored with 30 runs, the Karachi batting lineup faltered. Four other players were dismissed for single-figure scores, leaving Karachi reeling at 102-7. However, a late flurry from Abbas Afridi, who hit 24 from just nine balls, provided some resistance and took the Kings to a total of 128, with no further wickets lost.

Islamabad, despite the early breakthroughs, were always in control of the chase. Azam Khan and captain Shadab Khan shared a crucial 45-run partnership for the third wicket, steering the team to within touching distance of victory. Azam was dismissed for 31, bowled by Mohammad Nabi, but Shadab continued to anchor the chase, scoring 47 from 40 balls.

The game took a dramatic turn when Shadab’s stumps were broken by Abbas Afridi, leaving Islamabad needing just one more run to win. Mohammad Nawaz then struck the match-winning single from the very next delivery, sealing a comfortable victory for Islamabad and extending their unbeaten streak to four wins from four matches.

The result leaves Islamabad sitting pretty at the top of the PSL standings, four points clear of Lahore Qalanders, although they have played one more game. Karachi Kings, on the other hand, remain in third position but will need to bounce back quickly if they hope to maintain their place in the playoff spots.

Islamabad’s win is further testament to their all-around strength, with both bat and ball contributing to their dominant performance. Shadab Khan’s leadership continues to shine, and with their powerful lineup and strong teamwork, Islamabad look poised to challenge for the title as the PSL season progresses.

For Karachi, the loss highlighted some key issues with their batting lineup, and they will need to regroup quickly before their next fixture. With their top order failing to deliver, the Kings will be hoping for stronger performances in their upcoming matches to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.
